ABOUT US

Our History

Located in the rural community of Walkerton, Indiana, we have been handcrafting goat and cow milk cheese from our family farm since 2011. The way it all started? It’s simple. When we realized our passion for raising goats should turn into a family business, J2K Capraio was born.

While caring for goats comes naturally, our team is nearly self-taught when it comes to the world of cheesemaking.  With trial and error and participation in industry conferences, our delicious offerings continue to expand. Today, in addition to selling cheese at farmers markets, retail stores and restaurants throughout the region; J2K Capraio operates a artisan deli and cheese shop called Oh Mamma’s on the Avenue in South Bend, IN where our products are always available.

At J2K Capraio, we strive to produce exceptional cheese while remaining sustainable to the world around us. Our farmstead dairy and artisan creamery specializes in hand-making artisanal cheeses from start to finish. 

Our process is simple. From the hayfield to the milk parlor, into our creamery, our team does it all to ensure that it is done correctly and to our standards. In addition to our goat cheese, we believe in supporting other local family farms by purchasing cow milk to produce cheese from both species in all of our current varieties.

OUR FARM & FAMILY

As a family-run farm, we strive to support and bring awareness to the Northern Indiana community by offering local seasonal cheese, supporting our neighbors and sharing our experiences. Raising a family and operating a business is no easy task, which is why everyone involved plays such a necessary role in our success. Each part of the business is a family affair. With tending to the 50+ goats, selling at farmers markets and operating the cheese shop, our team has their hands full.  J2K would be nothing without the support and essential roles that each person plays. The J2K family consists of our hardworking team, Husband and Wife, Josiah and Jody and four children: Sofia, Joey, Frances and Nicolas. Not to mention our hard working farm dog Rusty!
